Six-Day, Level Two Training Description:
This six-day, in-person training in Asheville, NC is a deeper dive into how to use the Creating Healing Circles® method in a group therapy format. The invitation-only training will form a working group of 12 participants who will go deeper into internal work as well as practice implementing the facilitator skills outlined in the book with an emphasis on unburdening. While Level One focused on learning the skill and healing potential of sculpting which is a major part of the Creating Healing Circles® method, this Level Two training will focus more on the attunement and healing potential of unburdening in a group setting. Considerable emphasis will be placed on learning to support the healing of personal burdens, legacy and cultural burdens, unattached burdens, and clearing the group field. In supporting the healing potential of the IFS process, extra time will be devoted to connecting with the natural elements, ancestors, and guides.
In order to create a healing space, the Self of the Facilitator is vital, especially the Self qualities of clarity, compassion, and confidence. Healing Parts that constrain our Self-energy is essential in freeing up our imagination, intuition, and attunement. Participants will continue working with their own system to become more confident, competent, and attuned group facilitators.
Three Specific Principles of the Creating Healing Circles® Method:
- Highlighting Experiential Group Work – The Creating Healing Circles® method is designed to help the group participants specifically identify their Parts, set intentions toward Self-leadership, learn unblending skills, and unburden. Using the IFS tools of direct access, sculpting, psychodrama, and insight work, a group can help transform both the participant’s internal system and connect to a larger felt sense of community.
- Developing the Self of the Facilitator – The ability of the facilitator to hold Self-energy when in a dynamic, interpersonal interchange with others is a key component of leading successful groups. When developing Self-leadership as an IFS facilitator, especially in a Creating Healing Circles® group setting, it is highly recommended that facilitators continue to work experientially with their own system and track their own Parts dynamics, particularly in interpersonal relationships.
- Understanding Group Development and Process – As a facilitator, being aware of the dynamic nature of the group field plays a major role in how a group is designed and what type of therapeutic interventions are chosen.
